How to Guard the Vision God Has Given You
All of us, as believers, at some time in our lives, will face opposition as we try to fulfill our godly assignment. But, here's a question to consider: How do we guard what God has entrusted to us?.
"How do we guard what God has entrusted to us?"
That's the challenge we find in Nehemiah 4:15–23. Although Nehemiah and the people of Jerusalem faced ongoing opposition while rebuilding the city's walls, they refused to stop the work. Instead, they remained spiritually alert, working with one hand and holding a weapon with the other. Their example reminds us that every vision God gives us is worth guarding.

1. Every God-Given Vision Is Worth Guarding
God has entrusted each of us with something to build. It may be your faith, your marriage, your family, your ministry, or the purpose He has placed in your heart. Whatever He has entrusted to you, don't assume it will take care of itself. Every God-given vision needs to be protected because the enemy will always oppose what God is doing.
2. Continue to Build While Remaining Spiritually Alert
In Nehemiah’s day, the builders guarded the vision God gave them to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls with literal swords. Today, God has given us spiritual armor. We have the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, the breastplate of righteousness, and the shoes of the Gospel of peace that keep us firmly grounded in Christ. Ephesians 6:10-18 also encourages us to pray in the Spirit at all times because prayer activates the armor we wear in Christ, giving us the power to come against every attack that satan throws our way. As believers, we build, and we protect. We work, and we guard.
3. Remain Faithful and Trust God
Remaining faithful doesn't mean opposition will disappear, but it does mean we can move forward with confidence. As we remain faithful to God, we can trust that even when the enemy comes against us, God will fight for us. Remember, God never intended for us to do His work alone. As we remain faithful together, He will strengthen us and accomplish His will, working in harmony with other believers to accomplish what no one person could do alone.

Take a few minutes to identify one area of your life where you need to be more intentional about guarding what God has entrusted to you. Then ask the Lord to help you remain faithful, stay spiritually alert, and continue building with confidence.
